Pins has over 15 years’ experience addressing labour rights from different angles – advocating for international legal standards, implementing supply chain programmes, researching and analysing labour issues, providing strategic advice and designing and delivering training.

She has developed expertise in:

  • - Strategic advice to set the right direction and focus on key issues
  • - Policy and practice which improves working conditions for small farmers/agricultural workers and homeworkers in international supply chains
  • - Good governance and effective operation of multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • - Careful, action-oriented research to increase understanding of contentious, invisible or misunderstood issues
  • - High quality facilitation and experiential training
  • - Adequate consideration of women’s rights and gender related to employment and work
  • - Developing business cases for improving labour rights, within businesses and beyond them.

Subjects close to her professional heart are African agriculture; living wages, purchasing practices; child labour; women/gender in the workplace; all forms of discrimination; effective communication of rights; migrants; prison labour and putting the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights into practice.

Pins has worked on projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the UK. Prior to Ergon she worked for herself as well as the Ethical Trading Initiative, The Body Shop International, Anti-Slavery International and as a diversity trainer.
